Privacy notice

This notice explains how Velocity Studio collects and uses personal information through this website, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

Velocity Studio is a design and technology studio in Johannesburg, South Africa. For this notice, Velocity Studio is the responsible party. Our Information Officer is Moosa Osman, who can be reached at hello@velocitystudio.co.za.

What we collect

• Project briefs. When you send a brief we collect your name and email address and, if you give them, your phone number, business name, website and project details.
• Messages. If you contact us by email or WhatsApp, we keep the information you share with us.
• Technical information. Our hosting provider records standard server logs (such as IP address, browser and pages requested) to keep the site secure and working.

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not run analytics that identify you.

Why we use it

We use your information only to respond to your enquiry, prepare a proposal and, if you become a client, deliver and invoice the work. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not use it for marketing without your separate permission.

Who else processes it

Briefs sent through this website are delivered to us by a form-handling service, and our email is hosted by an email provider. These operators process information only on our instructions. Some of them store data outside South Africa; where that happens, we use providers bound by data-protection laws or agreements that give a level of protection comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of the Act requires.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a project are deleted within twelve months. Client records are kept for as long as the law requires, including tax records, and are then deleted.

How we protect it

Access to personal information is limited to the people who need it, accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available, and the website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS).

Your rights

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email hello@velocitystudio.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa: inforegulator.org.za.

We will update this notice when our practices change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
