An engineer’s method, applied to design.

Velocity Studio is a small Johannesburg studio for design, motion, websites, apps and business systems. Every piece is planned, constructed and tested before it is handed over.

The founder

Founded on a method.

Velocity Studio was founded in Johannesburg by Moosa Osman, who studies aeronautical engineering at the University of the Witwatersrand.

The same discipline runs through the studio’s work: requirements before drawings, construction before decoration, and testing before anything is handed over. It applies equally to a poster, an animation, a website, an app or an automation.

The name is the method. Velocity is speed with a direction: work delivered quickly and aimed at a clear goal, so the business moves forward. The V that starts it is the mark, and the Roman numeral for the studio’s five disciplines.

The mark

Drawn with a compass and a straight edge.

  1. 01Fix two points, A and B. The distance between them is the radius r.
  2. 02Draw a circle of radius r about each: the vesica piscis. Where they cross, P and Q fix the axis.
  3. 03A third circle about P meets the first two at TL and TR, the tops of the arms.
  4. 04A fourth circle about the centre O meets the top line at ITL and ITR, the inner edges.
  5. 05Join the points with straight lines only. The circles are removed; the V remains, faceted along three seams.

Our approach to AI

AI-assisted. Human-directed.

  • AI-assisted

Drafts, layouts, code and automations are produced faster with AI tools. That speed is what lets a small studio deliver quickly.

  • Human-directed

A person sets the brief, makes the decisions and checks every piece before it reaches you. Nothing is published on a tool’s judgement alone.

  • Imagery by agreement

Generative imagery is used only when you ask for it, and every brief records the choice. Otherwise artwork is hand-built vector or licensed photography.

  • Your information

Client information is handled under POPIA. Confidential material goes into AI tools only with your agreement.
